Our Trust

Safeguarding

At the Fairfax Multi Academy Trust (FMAT), keeping children safe is the responsibility of every employee and governor. Safeguarding is at the core of every decision and action.

The Trust’s positive culture of safeguarding is reflected within our policies, procedures and actions, which apply to all FMAT employees and associated governors, trustees and volunteers. All staff in the Trust are fully trained in line with the latest version of  ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the Trust operates safer recruitment practices in all cases.

All Academies have their own Safeguarding Policy, based on the principles in the Trust model policy which can be accessed below.  Academy Safeguarding Policies include a safeguarding key contact list and a summary of local issues which contains information unique to that Academy and reflects their specific contextual situation.

We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment within all our Academies where all children and adults are respected and valued. We will make sure that all children and young people have the same protection regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children and adults receive effective support and protection.  We recognise the additional needs of vulnerable and disabled children and young people and the barriers they may face, especially around communication.

We work closely with both Birmingham and Solihull Local Authorities to support families whose concerns or actions may have led to a referral being made either by school staff or those external to the Trust.

FMAT has a strategic responsibility towards all the academies within it to ensure that safeguarding practices across the Trust are robust and effective in safeguarding and protecting the welfare of all children and young people in its care.

There is a DSL at each Academy (see local policies) who is the first point of call for safeguarding concerns within each Academy

The model Safeguarding Policy can be accessed by clicking in the list below. To access the individual academy policies, please go to their websites by clicking on the academy names.
