Welcome to the Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust (FMAT) website. “Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust exists to develop articulate, resilient and ambitious pupils, regardless of background, with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to excel in modern Britain”

Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust was established in 2014. Fairfax MAT is grounded in the values, established over 60 years ago, of the founding MAT school – Fairfax. Mr Gordon Philpott, the inaugural Head Teacher of Fairfax, was passionate about social mobility. He believed that all his pupils, many of whom would be considered disadvantaged today, deserved nothing less than excellence. This is the very same mission that continues to drive our teachers, leaders, governors and support staff today.

The Trust currently has four Academies located across the West Midlands;

Fairfax – was the founding School of the Trust.  Based in Sutton Coldfield, this secondary school is renowned for its achievement in student progress, which is developed through both academic skills and the extra-curricular experiences available to its students;

Bournville – recently became an “All Through” Academy, accommodating students from Reception to Year 11.  Situated in the South of the City, Bournville was the Trust’s first sponsored Academy;

Erdington – was formally known as Kingsbury School and Sports College.  The Academy was rebranded as it joined the Trust in September 2016.  This culturally diverse community continues to grow from strength to strength;

Smith’s Wood – located in the Solihull region is the most recent Academy to join our Trust.
