Academy Trust signs up for Sutton Games

Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust has become the latest local organisation to lend its support to the Sutton Coldfield Community Games.

The Trust – which currently operates four schools in Birmingham, including Fairfax School and Erdington Academy – has become the Games’ seventh sponsor, and aims to use the new partnership to encourage teenagers and young adults to experience everything the Sutton Games now has to offer.

Fairfax is the latest local organisation to sponsor the two-day community event, joining Green & Company, Gracechurch Centre, Kick Start Academy, WAA Chosen, Porsche Centre Sutton Coldfield and the Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust in ensuring that the now-annual community sporting event – which is taking place at Wyndley over the weekend of 8th and 9th July – will be once again be free to all participants.

Andy Bird, CEO of Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust (FMAT) comments: “It’s impossible to have anything other than admiration for what the Sutton Games has become since launching just five years ago, so we’re delighted to be in a position to become a sponsor and partner.

“Sport and physical activity plays such an important role the lives of people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, and through this new partnership we aim to help spread the message and encourage participation amongst young people in particular.

“FMAT’s values are excellence, dedication, ambition, integrity and tradition, all qualities the Sutton Games exhibits in excess and I’m thoroughly looking forward to a long and fun partnership.”

Sutton Games founder, Dennis Kennedy comments: “FMAT is an incredibly welcome addition to the Games family and their involvement will bring a new dynamic to the weekend. It is an honour to be now working with such a range of superb local organisations and I’m extremely grateful for their support.

“This year’s event is now just a few weeks away and once again we have a terrific couple of days lined up, with well over 60 sports and activities now confirmed, including a couple of firsts for the Games. In fact, it’s hard to believe that we’re still finding new sports and activities to include, but I think that’s part of the magic. It’s no exaggeration to say there’ll be something for everyone – see you there!”

The Sutton Games are on 8th and 9th July. More than 60 different sports and activities will be available to try for free. For more information visit www.suttongames.co.uk.
